1. Enable Java

You will need to have Java software installed in order for certain areas of Blackboard to function properly. Follow these steps:

• Test for Java. See if you can load a java applet of this puzzle or this magic cube.
• If you don't see the puzzle or cube, you must download a Java software update for Mac.
  • For Mac OS X, download and install the latest version of Java for Mac OS X.
  • For Mac OS 9 and earlier, download and install the MRJ 2.2.5. Note: WebCT Vista 3.0 currently does not support Mac OS 9 as a client operating system

In addition, you will need to perform the following adjustments:

Enable Java in your browser

Firefox

1. From Firefox menu, click Preferences
2. Select Content in the Options panel
3. Make sure the Enable Java is selected, then click close.

2. Enable Javascript

Firefox

1. Open Firefox browser
2. From Firefox menu, click Preferences
3. Select Content
4. Click on the checkbox next to the words Enable JavaScript
5. click close

3. Enable Cookies

Firefox

1. Open Firefox browser
2. From Firefox menu, click Preferences.
3. Select Privacy
4. In Cookies section, click on the checkbox next to the words Accept cokies from sites JavaScript.
5. click close.

4. Disable Pop-Up Blocking

While using Blackboard, if you are unable to view discussion postings, quiz windows, and download links, then you need to disable pop-up blocking for your Blackboard server. Depending on the pop-up blocking software you are using, you may be able to set your Blackboard server as an allowed site, or you may need to disable the pop-up blocker while using Blackboard. Pop-up blockers work in the background while you browse the internet. When they detect a pop-up window that may be an unwanted advertisement, they automatically close the window. This can prevent Blackboard from performing properly.

1. Open Firefox browse
2. on the menu toolbar, click Tools.
3. Click on Options.
4. Make sure Block popup windows checkbox is unchecked.
5. Cick OK.
